7-9 September 2023
Aerospace Innovation Centre (AIC) Universiti Malaya marked it presence at the Selangor Aviation Show 2023 , held in SkyPark Regional Aviation Centre Subang, Selangor, Malaysia. AIC has showcased the collaborative project in on Augmented Reality (AR) for the aerospace industry. This innovation promises to transform the way aerospace manufacturing and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) are carried out, heralding a new era in efficiency, safety, and precision. The technology overlays digital information and interactive visuals onto the real-world environment, providing a seamless and immersive experience for operators and technicians. In addition, AIC also presented a range of 3D-printed aerospace components that could revolutionize aircraft manufacturing. These components were showcased alongside the state-of-the-art 3D printing technology such as Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) and Selective Laser Sintering (SLM) used to produce them. This approach in leveraging additive manufacturing technology has the potential to significantly reduce production costs and lead times while increasing the quality and efficiency of aircraft manufacturing.
AIC's involvement in the Selangor Aviation Show extended beyond product showcases. Researchers from the centre were available to engage with industry professionals and aviation enthusiasts alike. This open dialogue facilitated valuable discussions about the latest advancements in aerospace technology and the potential for collaboration between the academic and industrial sectors.
