4 July 2024 : Aerospace Innovation Centre team recently visited DRB-HICOM Defence Technologies Sdn. Bhd. (DEFTECH) headquarters in Shah Alam, Selangor to further discussions on potential training collaborations. This meeting was a follow-up to initial talks held during the Defence Services Asia (DSA) exhibition in Kuala Lumpur. DEFTECH is a leading player in Malaysia's defence and security industry, specializing in the design, development, manufacture and supply of armoured and logistics vehicles for military and homeland security applications. The company also has a presence in aerospace, unmanned systems and systems integration. Discussions centered around training opportunities that Universiti Malaya could potentially offer to DEFTECH employees. Both parties agreed there is good potential to collaborate on training initiatives that leverage UM's academic expertise and DEFTECH's industry experience. Specific programs and implementation plans will be worked out in subsequent meetings.
