26 June 2024 - The Aerospace Innovation Centre (AIC) at Universiti Malaya recently attended a significant event showcasing cutting-edge drone technology in agriculture. Associate Professor Ir Dr Mohd Sayuti and Mr Gan Woun Yoong represented AIC UM at the demonstration of the A22 Falco agricultural drone by AlphaSwift Industries. This innovative drone, designed for precision agriculture in Malaysia, has impressive capabilities that could revolutionize farming operations.

The A22 Falco boasts a 22L liquid tank capacity and can cover up to 3 hectares per flight, with a spray width of 6 meters. It utilizes advanced AI for precise pesticide application, addressing labor shortages in agriculture while increasing crop productivity and reducing costs. The drone's hybrid petrol-powered system allows for extended flight times, with over 20 minutes of operation compared to the 10-15 minutes typically achieved by LiPo-powered agricultural drones.

This event aligns well with AIC's mission to drive innovation and progress in aerospace applications, particularly in high-value industries supporting Malaysia's aerospace economy growth targets. The demonstration highlights the potential for collaboration between academia and industry partners, showcasing how university expertise can be leveraged to advance aerospace technology in various sectors, including agriculture.
